Egypt's New & Renewable Energy Authority (NREA) has extended the deadline for developers to submit bids for the 200MW photovoltaic (PV) solar project, in the Kom Ombo region of Egypt.

Developers now have until the 27th November 2016, to submit bids for the photovoltaic plant which will be developed under the independent power project (IPP) model.

Bidders first qualified in 2014, when the NREA had originally planned the project as ten separate 20MW PV projects. However, this has been changed to one utility-scale project totalling a capacity of 200MW.

The New and Renewable Energy Authority (NREA) invites experienced and specialised Engineering, Procurement, Construction (EPC) companies who also have operational experience of large scale PV power plants to participate in the pre-qualification process for the 20 MW free field PV power plant.

Agence Française de Développement (AFD) will fund the project and pre-qualification procedures will be according to their guidelines for procurement.
