Join us in a series of podcasts, where we address the key issues impacting the global Competition landscape as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

Episode 1: Competition and Cooperation during Covid-19

This podcast is a panel style discussion moderated by Ros Kellaway, Co-head of Global Competition and Trade, with participants from our offices across Europe, the US and Asia.

Key challenges faced by businesses in these times are discussed, and how the regulators are responding practically to the crisis as well as these specific issues for each jurisdiction.

Questions discussed include:

  • How do the regulators differ in their approach to competitor collaborations in the different jurisdictions?
  • As regulators are working from home and conducting their activities away from the office, what effect has it had on their enforcement approach?
  • What is being done to prevent price gouging?

Although there has been some adjustment of the rules to address pressures caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, caution is required when considering new collaborative measures. Not only can the timing of the measures and the actions themselves be cause for concern in an uncertain future, but the risk of private enforcement from third parties remains.
