1,300 attend annual gathering Our lawyers featured prominently at the International Legal Forum in St Petersburg, attended by more than 1,300 delegates from 93 countries on 14-18 May. Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev delivered the event’s opening speech, demonstrating the Forum’s standing in the Russian legal market. As part of our St Petersburg office’s partnership with the Forum, lawyers from Finland, Russia and the UK also attended and spoke at the event. Paula Barrett, Partner and Co-Head of Global Cybersecurity and Data Privacy practice, took part in a panel session ‘Information Distribution Rights: Public vs. Private’, where she gave the international perspective on the development of data protection law. Daniel Hall, M&A Partner, joined the panel discussion ‘M&A and Corporate Governance in Russia Today: Current Trends and Challenges’, where he outlined European M&A Market – Recent Trends and Outlook. On Thursday evening, The Forum hosted ‘Legal Street’ an informal networking session which saw Rubenstein Street in central St Petersburg closed off to host delegates only. The Eversheds Sutherland branded area was a huge attraction, visited by a number of existing and potential clients. Our tropical bar was the centre of activity, serving the best cocktails on Legal Street and our brand colours were highly visible, shining brightly against the backdrop of the St Petersburg skyline!
