By appointing Dr. Lutz Schreiber Partner with effect from 01 May 2017, Eversheds Sutherland (International) has further developed its Partner structure in Germany. Following the reinforcement of its Berlin office by another Partner in November 2016 and the appointment of three more Partners from within their own ranks in the previous year, Eversheds Sutherland has now made another important step towards the law firm's constant organic growth and the strategic development of its German presence by admitting Dr. Lutz Schreiber. In the future, 31 Partners will work in the three German offices in Berlin, Hamburg and Munich. Worldwide, 20 lawyers have been promoted to Partner status.

Lutz Schreiber (45) is a certified specialist for IT law and joined Eversheds Sutherland's Hamburg team in 2016. He advises in all questions of technology law with a focus on data protection and technology transactions such as complex IT projects, outsourcing and development partnerships. He furthermore specializes in the areas of digital business models, cloud services, electronic payment systems and IT-law disputes. He has particular know-how in the financial services sector. Among others, Microsoft is one of his clients which he regularly advises with respect to various contractual issues.

Lutz Schreiber studied law in Hamburg and wrote his doctoral thesis in 2003. Prior to joining Eversheds Sutherland, he had been a Partner in a leading German law firm for four years.

With Lutz Schreiber's progress to the partnership, the German IT and Data Protection practice group headed by Dr. Alexander Niethammer has been further extended.

Dr. Matthias Heisse, Managing Partner of Eversheds Sutherland in Germany, says:

"The need for comprehensive legal advice in an increasingly complex market environment has been steadily rising. I am excited that we have been able to further expand our partnership with a personality as experienced and efficient as Lutz Schreiber and to enhance our know-how in the area of digitalization with such an excellent specialist. Our German offices can pride themselves on an extraordinarily successful business year and we will continue this course with our expanded and committed partnership."

Lee Ranson, Managing Partner at Eversheds Sutherland (International), adds:

"I am very pleased that we are able to reward the hard work, leadership and client commitment shown by colleagues across such a broad geographic spread – this speaks volumes about the strength in depth across the group."

Worldwide, a total of 20 new Partners has been admitted to the partnership, among them six women. In addition to the German practice, offices in France, the UK, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Austria and the United Arab Emirates also appointed new Partners. Most of the appointments took place in the Company Commercial practice group (14). Four lawyers were promoted in the Litigation & Dispute Management practice group and two in the Real Estate practice group.
