Eversheds comment: Bankers’ bonuses may not match expectations

  • United Kingdom

Following news that the majority of UK bankers expect to receive a larger bonus in 2013, Paul Fontes, partner at global law firm Eversheds, comments:

“Whilst expectations regarding bonus payouts for 2013 may be rising, the political environment and public perception means that banks will remain under pressure to keep payouts within reasonable limits. As banks prepare for the introduction of the bonus cap in 2014, senior staff may simply get generous rises in fixed pay rather than a big increase in their bonus for 2013.”
