Eversheds comment: MPC split on cappuccino-like UK economy

  • United Kingdom

    22-10-2014

Commenting on the latest Monetary Policy Committee notes on interest rates, Bruce Dear, head of London real estate at law firm Eversheds, says:

“The UK economy is like a cappuccino – some white froth, some dark streaks. The MPC can’t read the colour of the coffee at the moment, hence their split on whether to raise rates. Taking a global view, a slowing China and juddering Eurozone means my vote is with the dark side. The Bank is right to hold rates for now.”
