Eversheds has been named ‘European Pensions Law Firm of the Year’ at the annual European Pensions Awards, 2016.

Now in their ninth year, the awards, organised by European Pensions, celebrate excellence in European pension provision.

The category – ‘Law Firm of the Year’ – recognises firms that ‘stand out in in their dedication to understanding the complexities of pensions legislation, and work with their clients to see them through the legal maze’.

The Eversheds’ pensions team, described by judges as ‘consummate professionals’, fought off tough competition from the likes of Alllen & Overy, Baker & McKenzie, DLA Piper and Linklaters.

Francois Barker, head of Pensions at Eversheds said:

"We’re thrilled to receive this award - our tenth in three years. In an ever-changing legal and economic landscape, it’s essential that we do our best to stay ahead of those changes and ensure we’re providing our clients with the very best, tailored advice possible; it’s excellent to have been independently recognised for our success and determination to do so.”

Eversheds and Pensions Europe recently published DC governance guidance, a new guide that outlines 14 key principles for running a defined contribution scheme in Europe. The report tackles topics such as investment strategy, communication to members, accountability, risk and value for money.
