This course is aimed at experienced HR professionals and in-house lawyers. It is assumed that delegates have a working knowledge of employment law.

Synopsis

With a new UK Prime Minister, employment law proposals are on the renewed agenda, from reducing “red tape” for businesses in a challenging global climate, to re-appraising “levelling-up” and re-visiting existing strike laws. The UK courts have also experienced a particularly busy period.

However, the post-pandemic working landscape remains quite different from the one which proceeded it and continues to pose considerable human resources challenges for employers whether in recruitment or reducing headcount. New ways of working, including greater hybrid working, are requiring new interpretations of established redundancy or restructuring practices and principles, such as, “what is the relevant place of work” and “what constitutes an establishment”? Issues around age and discrimination are also particularly prevalent in a volatile employment market, as is employment litigation, with class actions surging and setting a very different pace and agenda for employers.
