Candidate Attorneys, South Africa

One of the most important facets of any law firm are its juniors and in particular its candidate attorneys. We do not just employ anyone, our candidate attorneys are carefully selected to ensure that they fit in with the work ethic and culture of our firm.

Many of our candidate attorneys have spent time with us as vacation students during the annual vacation programme for law students. The vacation programme takes place during the university holiday period in June/July each year and forms part of our graduate recruitment initiatives.

To ensure a good fit, prospective candidates are interviewed by the Directors who then present their views on the prospective candidate to the board before appointment.

Once selected, the firm pairs them with whom we think would best suit their skills and personality. Most of our candidate attorneys will rotate at least once into a different department to ensure that the training they receive is not limited to one practice area.

As part of their preparation for the attorneys' admission exams, our firm pays for our candidate attorneys to attend a carefully selected training programme.

Our candidate attorneys do not just simply make up the numbers; they perform real work and gain real experience and exposure to clients and the law.
