Pathways is a committee in Eversheds Sutherland Ireland that works together to support and promote gender inclusivity in our firm.

Pathways, which began as Eversheds Sutherland Women (ESW), has spearheaded and promoted various positive initiatives in the firm since its formation in 2014, including client events, learning and development opportunities, policy initiatives and social interactions.

Relaunching as Pathways in 2020, the committee announced its new mission statement and objectives which had been carefully considered in light of our firm’s purpose and values.

Working together to support and promote gender inclusivity

Pathways’ mission statement is:

We are committed to fostering an inclusive and positive environment with a focus on enhancing your personal and professional development and encouraging confidence in meeting your career aspirations.

Pathways’ aims include:

• We are an organisation for all in Eversheds Sutherland, whatever their gender, position or role. We want to encourage an open and honest culture where our people feel confident to speak up and discuss the challenges they may be facing in their personal or professional development.

• We will engage and connect with our members and with internal and external groups to work together to build strong networks, create interactive and meaningful experiences and seek feedback so that we can continue to support our people on their career paths.  Working together, we can do more.

• We understand the importance, for both our people and our business, of gender inclusivity across our firm and gender balance at leadership levels. We are committed to working with all our people, though learning and development, professional networking, mentoring and other educational opportunities, in order to achieve these goals.

• We recognise that gender inclusivity should not be a women’s only issue. It should be an issue for all and so we are committed to encouraging full participation in Pathways, and in the events and supports it offers, by all our people, whatever their gender, across all areas of our business. 

• We recognise that as individuals, we each have different career aspirations. We are committed to encouraging a discussion across our business on what our people need and want in order to achieve their career aspirations so that we can offer quality and varied events, courses and tools tailored to meet those needs.
