Practice notes

Ingrid van Berkel started her career with BarentsKrans in 1991. She is a partner Employment and labour law in the Rotterdam office.

Ingrid advises Dutch and foreign clients on various aspects of labour law and employee representation. Ingrid's expertise spans a wide range of employment law issues with an emphasis on (international) assignments of employees, reorganisations, mergers and acquisitions, collective and individual dismissals, employee representation, (international) transfers of undertakings,  investment and start ups in the Netherlands and flexible employment relations.

Ingrid has extensive experience working in (international) multidisciplinary teams and in industry related issues. Her clients are active in many different sectors such as services, semi public sector, and other industries.

Ingrid is a regular speaker on employment topics at seminars and conferences. She is frequently asked as a trainer on Dutch Employment Law for HRM advisors and legal counsels with a responsibility for the Dutch operations of their companies. Ingrid represents Eversheds Sutherland Netherlands in the International Human Resources Practice Group of Eversheds Sutherland International.

Her recent experience includes:

  • Reorganisation of Dutch subsidiaries of a US listed multinational company including Works Council issues and negotiations with Unions.
  • Advising several foreign companies establishing their headquarters or operations in the Netherlands how to manage their organisation from an employment perspective.
  • Advising on reorganizations, litigation in dismissal cases, day to day employment advice, works council issues and cross border projects for all Dutch Tyco subsidiaries.
Memberships:

Ingrid is a member of local, national and international employment law associations such as the European Employment Lawyers Association (EELA), the Netherlands Employment Lawyers Association (VAAN) and the Rotterdam Employment Lawyers Association (VRAA).

Ingrid represents Eversheds Sutherland Netherlands in the International Human Resources Practice Group of Eversheds Sutherland International.

Ingrid van Berkel is partner Arbeids- en Medezeggenschapsrecht in Rotterdam. Zij beschikt over brede arbeidsrechtelijke expertise met een nadruk op (internationale) mobiliteit van werknemers, reorganisaties, fusies en overnames, collectief en individueel ontslag, medezeggenschap, (internationale) overgang van ondernemingen en flexibele arbeidsrelaties. Zij adviseert zowel Nederlandse als buitenlandse cliënten.

Ingrid heeft uitgebreide ervaring met industriegebonden vraagstukken en werkt veelvuldig in (internationale) multidisciplinaire teams. Haar cliënten zijn actief in tal van sectoren, zoals de dienstverlening (beveiliging en uitzendarbeid), de semi-overheidssector, ICT en andere sectoren.

Ingrid is een veelgevraagde docente op het gebied van arbeidsrecht voor internationale HRM-adviseurs die verantwoordelijk zijn voor de Nederlandse activiteiten van hun ondernemingen. Ingrid vertegenwoordigt Nederland in het internationale arbeidsrechtnetwerk van Eversheds Sutherland International.

  • De reorganisatie van Nederlandse dochtervennootschappen van een Amerikaanse beursgenoteerde multinational, met in begrip van ondernemingsraadkwesties en onderhandelingen met vakbonden;
  • De advisering van diverse buitenlandse ondernemingen bij de vestiging van hun hoofdkantoor of bedrijfsactiviteiten in Nederland en de structurering van hun organisatie vanuit een arbeidsrechtelijk perspectief.
  • Advisering in reorganisaties, ontslagzaken, algemeen arbeidsrechtadvies, medezeggenschap en grensoverschrijdende projecten voor alle in Nederland gevestigde Tyco vennootschappen.
