Practice notes

Jonathan is a partner in our construction and engineering group, advising for over 20 years on contentious and non-contentious construction issues.

He advises on procurement strategy and preparation of the full range of construction documentation; acting for developers, institutional investors and employers (in the public and private sector).

In addition to commercial development work, Jonathan has a particular focus on the transport (road and rail), energy and data centre sectors. He provides project support to resolve potential disputes at an early stage, and has experience of resolving disputes through negotiation, mediation, adjudication, arbitration and litigation in the Technology and Construction Court.

He works closely with real estate colleagues on all construction aspects of real estate transactions, advising on development obligations, and leading teams undertaking due diligence on construction documents.

His recent experience includes: developing for a US data centre developer, a consistent design and construction framework for the development of data centres across Europe; advising a major transport operator on the procurement of contracts for the maintenance of its main roads network, with the flexibility to instruct capital improvement works; and advising a sovereign wealth fund on the development of its London property portfolio including the development of office and retail properties and high end residential apartments.
