Shahyan is an associate in the Banking & Finance team and is based in the Dubai office and deals with all aspects of banking and finance, including project finance, trade finance, real estate and development finance, Islamic finance and acquisition finance acting for international and Middle Eastern financial institutions.

Shahyan acts for a range of international and Middle East financial institutions, as well as advising borrowers on their loan and security documentation.

He is qualified in England and Wales and has been practicing law since June 2019. In addition to English, he is fluent in Hindi with a working knowledge of Gujarati.

Shahyan is qualified in England and Wales and obtained an LLB from Queen Mary, University of London and an LLM in International Business and Economic Law from Georgetown University.

A selection of Shahyan’s recent experience includes advising:

  • a developer on the funding of a solar project in Egypt with funding provided by a syndicate of DFI’s led by a French Development Bank;
  • a real estate development company on a US$227m Islamic syndicated financing package for the development of 13 sites across Dubai.
  • an asset manager on a SAR1.4bn syndicated Islamic facility for the acquisition of several malls in Saudi Arabia.
  • an international financial institution on the syndicated Islamic financing to a state-owned utility provider in the UAE.
  • a financial institution in relation to a facility to a Bahraini based financial institution.
  • a Jordanian company in relation to the UAE aspects of the prepayment of an existing facility.
