Brexit and the legal implications for businesses

Liz Fitzsimons is a Partner who specialises in privacy and information laws for private and public clients. Liz helps clients with all aspects of data protection, GDPR and e-privacy, freedom of information and compliance with environmental information regulations. Her work includes strategic advice on UK wide and multi-national data privacy, including assisting clients with audits, transfer and compliance programmes and development of supporting documents, such as privacy notices and policies. Liz has also worked closely with clients on key data sharing and shared service arrangements, in relation to mergers and acquisitions, and on critical data privacy issues when outsourcing.

In the event of security and other alleged breaches, Liz works with client to help them with decisions on and making notifications, as well as successfully defending clients against ICO investigations and enforcement action, including fines. She frequently assists clients to deal with personal data requests as well as transparency compliance, including complex, sensitive and / or voluminous requests for information. Liz has a strong track record in minimising the impact of complaints to the regulator and has dealt with numerous information tribunal appeals for clients.

Liz is a regular speaker at conferences and events, including at PDP's national annual FOI and DP conferences and also provides the training for PDP's national Advanced FOI Exemption training course. Liz provides frequent press comments, briefings and articles for a range of publications and is recommended by Chambers and Legal 500.
