Practice notes

Matthew is a partner in our commercial group and is a member of our Financial Institutions Group. He leads our Digital Financial Services and Fintech group and our Consumer Law team. Matthew specialises in advising our clients in this sector on their commercial arrangements including terms and conditions of supply and purchase, consumer terms and conditions, affinity agreements, supply chain arrangements, IT and outsourcing agreements and software licensing. Matthew has written many articles on consumer law and commercial law and is a contributor to BBC news programmes.

Matthew’s recent experience includes:

  • Advising global financial services business on its commercial contracts in connection with the provision of goods, services and IT systems and outsourcing.
  • Advising Retail banks on the rewriting of all of their terms and conditions with businesses and consumers including online and mobile banking.
  • Advising a Retail bank on IT and business services outsourcing including its data and voice arrangements.
  • Advising leading insurer on its insurance products and its partnership arrangements with insurance providers and advising it on its key IT contracts and its new IT platforms and its apps with consumers.
  • Advising UK insurer on Robo advice and automated advice products.
  • Advising comparison website on its IT agreements and its agreements with insurance providers and advising it on apps with consumers.
  • Advising European retailer on its consumer terms and conditions in more than 50 countries and managing the global lawyers providing the advice.
  • Providing and supporting secondments from the Eversheds Commercial team to a number of financial institutions and public bodies.
