Practice notes

Dr. Ursula Grooterhorst has been working as a lawyer since the foundation of Grooterhorst & Partner Rechtsanwälte, Dusseldorf, in 1994. Since 01 August 2017, she has been a Counsel in the Construction/Real Estate practice group at Eversheds Sutherland in Dusseldorf.

Ursula has experience in construction planning law matters which she has also demonstrated in various publications.

Another focus of her work lies on court and out-of-court dispute resolution, in particular with respect to asset disputes within the framework of corporate, hereditary and family law matters. In this context, she advises family companies and wealthy private clients also by making use of mediative elements.

She has demonstrated her experience in the area of mediation in various publications and lectures.

She is a member of the Association of German Women Entrepreneurs (Verband Deutscher Unternehmerinnen e.V.) and the Association of Construction and Real Estate Mediators (Verband der Bau- und Immobilienmediatoren e.V.). In addition, she is a member of the working group mediation in the German Lawyers' Association (Arbeitsgemeinschaft Mediation im Deutschen Anwaltverein), association of mediation Germany, Austria, Switzerland (Mediation DACH e.V.), association of women in the real estate industry (Frauen in der Immobilienwirtschaft e.V.), Association of German Women Entrepreneurs (Verband Deutscher Unternehmerinnen e.V.), Association of Catholic Entrepreneurs (Bund Katholischer Unternehmer e.V.), Friends of Jurisprudence at the University of Münster and the Legal Research Society Münster (Freundeskreis Rechtswissenschaft Verein zur Förderung der juristischen Ausbildung an der Universität Münster), International Society for Depth Psychology (Internationale Gesellschaft für Tiefenpsychologie e.V.), C.G. Jung Society Cologne (C.G. Jung Gesellschaft Köln e.V.) as well as of Zonta International.

Ursula studied law at the Westfälische Wilhelms-University of Münster and at the University of Lausanne, Switzerland and wrote her doctoral thesis in the department of Prof. Dr. Werner Hoppe in the area of construction planning law. Following her studies, she worked as an in-house lawyer in the legal finance department of the Archiepiscopal Vicariate General in Cologne. Since 2012, Ursula has been a trained mediator.
