Practice notes

Jo is a Partner in our Construction group and is a specialist in the preparation and negotiation of construction contracts in the Energy and Infrastructure sectors. She advises on EPC, EPCM, O&M and Framework Agreements and all forms of standard form construction and engineering documentation (such as FIDIC, LOGIC, NEC and IChemE contracts). Jo specialises in the application of risk assessment to the procurement process - ensuring the contracts have the correct risk profile and identifying risks that need to be managed outside of the contractual documentation.

Jo is a member of the IChemE Contracts committee, drafting its domestic and international forms of contract and is also a member of INLA. Jo’s experience includes the following projects (project value ranges £250m - £10bn):

  • A supplier in connection with the offshore and onshore EPC contracts for the construction of a LNG facility in India
  • A Chinese investor on the due diligence of the construction contracts for Hinkley Point C
  • Southstream in connection with the preparation and negotiation of the construction contracts for the supply and installation of a major gas pipeline under the Black Sea
  • A government body on the FEED, EPC and Project Documents for the construction of a legacy cylinder facility at a nuclear licensed site
  • A Middle Eastern power business on the development of several new thermal power facilities in Europe
