Practice notes
Steve is a consultant in our real estate group and was formerly a partner. During his time as a partner he led the development practice in London and the regeneration practice nationally.
He has 25 years’ experience acting for private sector, public sector or investor clients on mixed use developments, joint ventures and development investments. Steve is highly experienced in drafting, negotiating and analysing all types of legal documentation including conditional sale contracts, joint venture and collaboration agreements, acquisition agreements, development agreements and complex agreements for lease. Work with the public sector has brought a strong understanding of EU procurement law, state aid and best consideration/fiduciary duties.
His recent work includes:
- working on a large scale government asset disposal to the private sector;
- lead partner on the redevelopment scheme for a major site in Vauxhall, London.;
- lead partner for a London regeneration authority on the development of large scale mixed use scheme in East London;
- acting on the acquisition of London or regional development assets and provision of development funding – advising on the investment of circa £300m across five schemes;
- advising a Saudi investor on the redevelopment of a listed asset in London for a £400m residential scheme;
- advising a Middle Eastern bank on the redevelopment of distressed retail asset in Luxembourg;
- advising a private sector regeneration company on the ten party joint venture agreement for the redevelopment of a former MOD site. The strategic site will deliver over 2,000 units and is being implemented through an LLP arrangement which included the local authority;
Client feedback cites Steve as being “clever, commercial, concise” and he is named in Chambers 2016 guide.
