Practice notes

Jonathan is a partner in Eversheds Sutherland’s Financial Institutions Group and advises a wide range of clients on UK and EU financial services regulation. His clients include all manner of financial institutions, including banks, asset managers, investment funds and their managers, insurers and payment services funds. Jonathan also advises general corporates and trusts on financial services regulation.

His experience covers a broad range of UK and EU regulation including the EU’s EMIR regulation, the AIFM Directive, the Payment Services Directives. He regularly advises clients on regulated activities and Part IV permissions and exemptions, change in control applications, the rules in the FCA handbook and the scope of the regulatory perimeter and financial promotions.

In addition to advising on financial services regulation, Jonathan has extensive transactional experience in the financial services sector and experience of advising clients on major regulatory change implementation projects.

Much of Jonathan’s work has a cross-border element and he regularly works with Eversheds Sutherland colleagues and other overseas counsel on matters involving a wide range of structures and entities including unit trusts, limited partnerships and other SPVs.
