Practice notes

Joanne is a consumer finance and retail financial services regulatory partner with particular focus on the consumer credit and regulated mortgages regimes. Joanne also advises on payment services and e-money.

Joanne has worked as a dedicated consumer finance lawyer since qualifying in 2002. During that time, Joanne has gained diverse experience of the retail financial services sector including banking and finance litigation, consumer finance regulation as well as working in-house as the Head of UK Legal for U.S based consumer lending group. Joanne has also spent time on secondment with a number of retail finance providers.

Joanne can advise you across the full spectrum of retail finance products including loans, high-cost short-term credit, overdrafts, credit and store cards, point of sale finance, mortgages and motor finance. She works with clients across a number of sectors. Her expertise covers advising clients on FCA authorisation and regulation, product design, marketing, product origination and servicing (including post-contractual statements and notices, arrears management and debt collection) and product reviews. She regularly advises clients on the requirements of the Consumer Credit Act 1974 and the conduct of business requirements in the FCA Handbook. Joanne also advises on the consumer protection and unfair terms legislation in the context of retail financial services.

Joanne is also ranked for Consumer Finance in Chambers and Partners and is noted for a strong reputation among banking and consumer credit clients for her regulatory expertise.

In her spare time Joanne enjoys yoga, meditation, walking and spinning. Joanne is a school governor, a trained mental health ally, a qualified yoga instructor and is passionate about wellbeing.
