Practice notes

Dan Roskis is a partner based in our Paris office where he heads the competition law practice and our Company Commercial group. He specialises in French and European competition and distribution law.

A member of the Paris bar, he is a doctor of laws and also holds a postgraduate degree in French & European business law.

He advises major public and private companies, both French and international, on the definition and implementation of their commercial and pricing policies (anticompetitive or restrictive trade practices and abuse of dominant position). Dan has also developed significant expertise in merger control, notably as regards the filings of acquisitions and JVs to the competent national or EU competition authorities His activities also include litigation before national and EU competition courts and authorities, as well as advice on State aid.

His recent experience includes representing:

  • Representing major French banks before the European Commission and the CFI in challenging exclusive rights for bank savings products
  • a group active in the aeronautical sector on merger control and gun jumping aspects in the course of for the sale of one of its subsidiarity
  • Advising a major cast manufacturer on a manufacturing and supply contract with an engine manufacturer across EMEA
  • Assisting a major TV operator, the French postal incumbent and an international investment bank in the assessment of State aid measures

Dan has written articles for the French legal media on competition issues raised by monopolists' practices as well as on cartel fines. He is a regular contributor to E-competitions newsletter and he is also the author of numerous articles concerning advertising sponsorship.

Dan Roskis est avocat associé au sein du département corporate, basé dans notre bureau parisien. Bilingue anglais/français, il est spécialisé en droit communautaire et français de la concurrence, notamment en matière de contrôle des concentrations, de pratiques anti-concurrentielles et d'aides d'Etat.

Membre du Barreau de Paris et Docteur en droit, il est également titulaire d'un DEA en Droit des Affaires Français et Européen. Il a passé un an en détachement au sein du département juridique de EDF.

Il a récemment représenté :

  • les plus grandes banques françaises devant la Commission européenne et le TPICE en vue de l'abrogation du monopole de distribution du Livret A
  • une compagnie aérienne française dans le cadre de l'acquisition de son homologue italienne
  • un fabricant de produits électroménagers dans l'établissement de son réseau de distribution sélective
  • un opérateur de télévision, l'opérateur postal historique français et une banque d'affaires internationale dans l'examen de problématiques en matière d'aides d'Etat

Il a rédigé des articles pour des revues juridiques françaises sur le traitement des pratiques d'origine monopolistique, ainsi que sur le calcul du montant des amendes en matière de cartels. Dan contribue régulièrement à la revue électronique E-competitions et il est également l'auteur d'articles de référence sur le parrainage publicitaire (sponsoring) et le mécénat d'entreprise.
