Practice notes
Sumitra is a Principal Associate Professional Support lawyer in our Financial Services Disputes and Investigations group, part of the Litigation and Dispute Management practice. She has conducted investigations for financial institutions as well as enforcement work involving the FCA, PRA and overseas financial services regulators. She also advises financial institutions more generally on the interpretation and application of regulatory requirements, with a particular focus on governance, culture, conduct and individual accountability.
Sumitra has written articles and delivered training to clients and colleagues on key UK regulatory developments, including the FCA Consumer Duty and the UK financial services regulators’ focus on improving diversity and inclusion within the sector.
Before joining Eversheds Sutherland, Sumitra was an investigator within the FCA’s Enforcement and Market Oversight Division, where she carried out investigations into the conduct of firms and senior individuals. She has considerable regulatory experience from her time at the FCA, in private practice, and from her time on secondment to the enforcement division of an overseas financial services regulator.
