Elīna is Attorney at Law and Associate Partner at Eversheds Sutherland Bitāns. She specialises in employment law and personal data protection law.
She provides clients with employment-related legal and business solutions both in domestic and cross-border settings and produces the necessary documentation.
Elīna advises clients on all aspects of personal data protection, ranging from overall compliance with GDPR and national legislations, such as advising on daily personal data processing activities, drafting consent texts and privacy policies to development of complex impact assessments and contracts. She also possesses considerable experience in advising on global data transfer strategies and implementation of GDPR requirements in cutting-edge technology products and services.
Elīna is an often presenter at seminars and conferences. Most recently, she has had presentations and lectures on personal data matters in the Latvian Association of People Management, ISACA Latvian chapter, BA School of Business and Finance and University of Latvia.
In addition to employment law and personal data protection law, a significant part of Elīna’s practice is devoted to matters of contract law. She is the leading lawyer of our Commercial Contracts Practice. She plays a vital role in creating the contractual documentation for clients and is extremely skilled at grasping the needs of the client even in the most complex arrangements.
Elīna is a member of the Latvian Bar Association.
Recent Experience
Elīna is a member of the working group which developed guidelines for the Latvian Bar Association, in order to assist with implementation the GDPR in Sworn Advocates practice places.
Elīna drafted recommendations for LANIDA, an independent, voluntary, public organization that unites certified real estate agents and agent assistants, for the application of the GDPR to the daily professional activities of agents engaged in the intermediary services of real estate: expropriation, renting and leasing.
Elīna has implemented GDPR by conducting audits and gap-analysis, drafting the GDPR documentation, providing daily consultations and assistance on practical GDPR implementation to large Latvian businesses operating in food, transport, electronics and healthcare sectors.
Elīna assisted leading global professional services firm providing a broad range of risk, reinsurance, retirement and health solutions in a sensitive employment matter involving termination of the employment legal relationships with key-manager of the client and represented the client in the post-termination litigation.
