Practice notes

Elīna is Attorney at Law and Associate Partner. She specialises in employment law matters and plays a significant role in the employment law practice group of Eversheds Bitāns.  She provides clients with employment-related legal and business solutions in a local and cross-border environment.

She assists clients in improving their employment-related action plans, as well as in drafting and developing employment documentation.  She also prepares legal opinions on complex employment issues and works with court-related documentation.

Elīna has more than five years of experience in insurance law matters.  She works with several key insurance companies in Latvia, advising on daily business and employment-related issues, dealing with detailed evaluation of large, complex insurance coverage cases, assisting in high-value disputes and drafting court documentation.

She also provides substantial legal support to our clients on a wide range of personal data protection issues.  She has participated in numerous multi-jurisdictional personal data protection consultations.

She has shared her knowledge in several high-profile business conferences and developed a chapter on legal matters in export transactions in the industry handbook “Guide to Export”, published by the Dienas Bizness publishing house.  The chapter has been regularly updated.

Recent experience

  • Advising a local rep office of a global medicines manufacturer on a wide range of employment matters, including implementation of its global employment policies in the local legal environment.
  • Acting in several sensitive employment matters involving termination of employment and legal relationships with key managers of the client, as well as assisting in the post-termination litigation.
  • Assisting in the development of a court strategy and the preparation of court documentation for a client, a key insurance company in Latvia, involving assistance in a high-profile insurance court matter the value of which exceeds €500,000
  • Assisting a Latvian company in the development of a court strategy and the preparation of court documentation in an insurance court matter related to fire in the territory of Riga Freeport against a foreign insurer claiming damages exceeding €1 million.
  • Providing daily advice to a global electronic appliances manufacturer on privacy in IT and smart devices and providing regular efficient and prompt legal reviews of privacy-related documentation across the Baltics.
  • Advising a globally recognised vehicles manufacturer on the implementation of online services in the local legal environment, including a review of related legal documentation: policies and terms and conditions.
  • Advising a major consumer credit business on personal data matters related to the restructuring of its business across Europe.
