Phelim is an Associate in the firm's Construction & Projects Group, specialising in advising on the Irish energy sector.

He regularly advises developers, utilities, funders and sponsors on EU and Irish energy regulation, project development, project finance and project acquisitions. He has particular experience in advising on electricity market rules, electricity sale and purchase agreements, grid connection, construction and operational agreements. Phelim is also a member of the firm's Sustainability Group and Green Team.

Phelim's recent experience includes:

  • advising Joh. Berenberg, Gossler & Co. KG on its cross-border financing of 1.36GWp of solar projects across Ireland and the UK to be developed by Elgin Energy.
  • advising a large domestic lender on the financing of eight solar farm developments in the South West of Ireland.
  • advising a large domestic lender on the financing of an extension to an operational wind farm located in Ireland.
  • advising EirGrid in relation to the Celtic Interconnector project between Ireland and France.
  • advising an international power company on the restructring of its electricity sale and purchase and suppy agreements in relation to two operational wind farms in Ireland.
  • advising an international investor on its investment in two data centre projects in Ireland.
  • advising a large international lender on the financing of two seperate onshore wind farm developments in Ireland.
  • advising a multi-national conglomerate on the sale of its shareholding in a large wind farm in Ireland.
