Practice notes

Ekaterina Tilling is a partner in our intellectual property (IP) practice group and has over 15 years' experience with contentious and non-contentious IP matters.

She has extensive experience handling complex investment projects involving different IP assets, as well as negotiating and advising on various IP/IT transactions (software development, franchising, IP assignment and licensing). She is also highly competent to solve IP disputes in Russian courts at all instances, including the Supreme State Commercial (Arbitrazh) Court of the Russian Federation, as well as in the Chamber of Patent Disputes of Rospatent, anti-monopoly bodies and prosecutor’s offices.

Ekaterina is recommended among European legal experts for IP matters (Chambers Global and Chambers Europe; Who’s Who Legal, The Legal 500 EMEA, WTR-1000: The World's Leading Trademark Professionals).  She is also listed in the IP Stars ranking in both categories as a Patent Star and Trademark Star, and has been named as the best IP lawyer in the Moscow region by Best Lawyers 2020.

Ekaterina is qualified as a Mediator of International and Community Conflicts by the Conflict Resolution, Research and Resource Institute, Inc. (CRI). She took a course of training of the Russian-American program on Conflictology (R-APC) in 2006.

Ekaterina is included in the United Register of recommended arbiters of the Arbitration Center of the Institute of Modern Arbitrazh. She was admitted to the Moscow Region Bar in 2002.

Ekaterina teaches at the Law Department of the National Research University “Higher School of Economics” and has co-authored several MA teaching programs for IP law issues since 2015. Ekaterina is also a part-time lecturer at another leading law school in Russia, the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (the MGIMO University,  teaching her own module on IP law for the last 10 years.

She is an active member of the IP Committee of ICC Russia and of several working groups of the global ICC Commission of Intellectual Property. She was also deputy chairperson of the IP Committee of the Association of European Businesses in Russia for over five years and now continues support this committee’s activities.

Ekaterina has published a number peer-reviewed publications regarding IP law, both in Russia and abroad, including commentaries on Russia’s key legislative acts.
