Practice notes

Laila is Of Counsel in our Litigation and Dispute Management group, as well as our Construction and Engineering group. Her broad-based commercial practice covers industries such as construction and engineering, infrastructure projects, international trade, and trade finance.

Her matters frequently involve transnational elements, and she is accustomed to handling cross-border disputes. Her recent experience includes acting as counsel in several transnational disputes involving allegations of civil fraud and conspiracy, applications for worldwide freezing orders, and committal proceedings. She has also acted in contentious corporate and employment law matters, including shareholders disputes, claims for breach of director’s duties, and disputes over the validity of restrictive covenants.

As part of the Construction and Engineering group, Laila has advised and acted on behalf of project owners, contractors, architects, the authorities, and insurers in various construction-related disputes. She has also assisted on front-end matters such as the review and drafting of construction and engineering contracts, consultancy agreements, maintenance agreements, and service agreements.

Laila graduated from the National University of Singapore in 2010 and was called to the Singapore Bar in 2011. A recipient of the Singapore Academy of Law Overseas Attachment Award, Laila had undertaken a work attachment with Blackstone Chambers in London where she assisted in matters led by Queen's Counsel and other leading barristers.
