Practice notes

Franziska is a Counsel in the Employment and Labour Law practice group in our Berlin office.

Her area of advice covers all aspects of employment and labour law, in particular works constitution law, protection against dismissal law as well as the investigation of contractual violations. Franziska has a special expertise in connection with questions of exemptions from the statutory pension scheme for persons who are covered by an occupational pension fund. In this area, the focus of her activity is on the legal situation of inhouse-lawyers.

Furthermore, Franziska frequently acts as speaker in training events for HR experts as well as inhouse and has extensive experience in teaching.

She is a member of the German Bar Association (Deutscher Anwaltsverein, DAV) and the labour law working group of the German Bar Association (Arbeitsgemeinschaft Arbeitsrecht des Deutschen Anwaltsvereins).

Franziska studied law at the Universities of Dresden and Mannheim. In 2006 she was awarded the degree "Master of Comparative Law" by the University of Mannheim and the University of Adelaide. In 2007, Franziska was awarded diplomas in business administration and economics at the University of Hagen (Fernuniversität in Hagen). Subsequently, she obtained an LL.M. from the same university with a focus on the law of the legal profession and legal practice.

Before joining Eversheds Sutherland Franziska inter alia worked for Beiten Burkhardt and Wilmer Hale in Berlin as well as for Ahlers & Vogel in Bremen. Moreover, Franziska worked as research assistant and temporary academic councillor at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University in Munich where she also wrote her doctoral thesis on a subject in works constitution law.

Franziska's recent experience includes:

  • advising various companies in the health sector in diverse labour law matters in the area of works constitution law and industrial action law
  • advising companies of various sectors in connection with the admittance of inhouse lawyers in a variety of industries
  • advising a bank in a large number of individual employment law cases
