Helen is a dual-qualified senior associate in the data protection, privacy and cybersecurity team, with a background as a commercial lawyer and as an attorney for a US tech start-up.
Helen can help you with all aspects of your data protection, privacy and cybersecurity law obligations.
She advises clients on their UK and international data sharing/processing agreements, international data transfers and data protection policies and compliance documents.
She provides strategic advice to her clients on dealing with major data security breaches and complex subject access requests, as well as on direct marketing/e-Privacy issues, the data protection aspects of corporate acquisitions and disposals and the data protection implications of new technologies and processes.
Her practice also includes advising you on your obligations under the Freedom of Information Act and the Environmental Information Regulations.
Helen’s experience includes:
- advising a client on its data sharing and processing agreements, including drafting of template agreements for use across the business
- drafting privacy notices and data protection impact assessments and providing other strategic advice to a client in respect of its global HR and IT services arrangements
- acting for a client in respect of a significant cyberattack, working collaboratively with the appointed IT forensic and crisis management teams to contain and mitigate the breach, notify the relevant regulators and affected individuals and manage claims. This resulted in no regulatory action by the Information Commissioner’s Office in respect of the incident
- working alongside the firm’s litigation team, representing a number of clients in respect of a high value group action which raises substantive and novel information law issues
